What Would I Do?

I've been having some difficulty lately. I should probably read my Bible more to figure out this quandary I'm having. You see, I know that it's a matter of time before the government starts coming door to door to confiscate firearms or to run "checks" on us. This isn't tinfoil hat wacked out conspiracy theory. It's what will happen. Given my stances on homeschooling, government, my belief in Jesus, and utter distaste for Washington D.C. (especially President Change), it's a matter of time before they visit me.

I know I am responsible for my family. But would I be able to sit there and let them march us off to their "re-education camps" at the Ministry of Love? Would I turn in our weapons? Would I be willing to defend my household, violently if needed?

As Christians, we are supposed to follow the laws of the land, be good citizens. But what if those laws infringe upon those whom God has placed in our care?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Can anyone provide me some verses to think on?

Bill St. Clair has his thoughts on the matter.

My view is that you have a right of self-defense, and a responsibility to protect your family, and that these are perfectly consistent with both Christian faith and American law and tradition.

The Bible says to obey Government only to the extent that it you are not compromising your belief in Him. He also commands us to care for our families and bring our children up rightly. So, looking at it that way, I think it could be safe to say that God would expect you to do just as your post suggests. Thoughts?

I was just wondering if anyone had any Scripture about it.

When they come for us (which they will), I just wasn't sure if I'd be on solid Biblical footing by fighting back to keep a runaway government from trying to take my family.

I'm not worried about dying at all. I'm just worried about displeasing Jesus.

Hmmm... well I guess a Bible Study is in order.
